The new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM Regulations 2007) came in to force in April 2007. [See also: Building Regulations Amendments to Approved Documents B]

The objective of CDM is to ensure a strategic approach to health and safety on project design, planning, preparation and execution to reduce the total amount of risk, which is introduced into the construction process, by effective management.

The main changes under the new regulations are:

The CDM Regulations 2007 apply to all construction projects and the requirements for notification of a project trigger the appointment of duty holders.
