The theatre will close in the winter 2012 to allow for a major refurbishment and upgrade for the first time since its construction in the 1950’s.

The Grade 2 star theatre was originally a temporary building but now a major calling point for plays before going to London or leaving soon after on tour.

The seating layout, sightlines, stage lighting, ventilation and basement storage facilities are all being improved to meet the demands of being a premium venue.
