The development included the replacement of multiple search areas with a new consolidated security search area for the South Terminal contributing to many service benefits and efficient operations.

The passenger experience has been improved with the creation of a single search area with premium, family and assistance lanes allowing the right capacity, maximum  throughputs and through standardisation the flexibility to enable changes in security regulations and safeguard for future capacity requirements.    This included 19 new security lanes, a large preparation area for passengers, automated boarding card readers, automated queue management,  5 new escalators, new lift and stairs to improve passenger flows.
