It is London's second largest international airport and second busiest by total passenger traffic in the United Kingdom after Heathrow.

Improvements include 18 new check in desks, numerous self-service kiosks providing increased check-in capacity, faster check-in and supported by an improved baggage system.  For arriving passengers, there are 4 new baggage reclaim carousels.
